How Comment Auto Reply works
A viewer comments your keyword, and the app sends them a DM with your link. No flow builder, no desktop, no password sharing. You set the whole thing up from your phone in about a minute.
Three steps, then it runs on its own
Here is the whole process, from connecting your account to the first DM going out.
Connect your account
Sign in through Instagram's official login screen. You never hand us a password, and you can disconnect any time. The app works with any Instagram Business or Creator account. If you are on a personal account, switching is free and takes about two minutes inside the Instagram app.
Pick a keyword and write your DM
Choose the word people will comment, like RECIPE or LINK, and pick what the reply does: send a link, a lead magnet, a discount code, or capture an email. Write the message you want sent back and paste your link. Want to grow while you convert? Add a follow gate so the DM sends once they follow you, or capture their email right inside the conversation.
Post and it runs
Publish your reel or post with a clear call to comment. From then on, every matching comment gets your DM within seconds, day and night, while you are filming the next one or asleep. You do not touch it again unless you want to change the keyword or the message.
What happens the instant someone comments
Four steps, all automatic, all in a second or two.
Comment detected
The app watches the post you connected and picks up new comments as they land.
Keyword matched
It checks the comment against your trigger word, including common typos and plurals.
DM sent
Your reply lands in their inbox in about a second or two, with your link attached.
Follow gate or email capture
Optionally ask them to follow first, or collect their email before the link goes out.
Why this stays inside the rules. A DM here is only ever sent in reply to a comment, which is exactly what Instagram's API is built for. The app sends one private reply per comment, within seven days of that comment, through the official API, and only on an Instagram professional account. It never messages people who did not interact with you, which is the behavior that actually gets accounts restricted.
What you can send
Each keyword can do one of these. Mix and match across different posts.
Link or lead magnet
Drop your blog post, product page, free guide, or download straight into the DM.
Discount code
Send a code the moment someone asks, so interest turns into a purchase while it is hot.
Email capture
Collect an email inside the conversation and turn a comment into a subscriber.
Follow gate
Hold the link until they follow you, so you grow your audience and your clicks together.
Questions creators actually ask
The honest version, including the ones about getting banned.
Not when it is done the way Comment Auto Reply does it. Instagram allows an automated DM in response to a user-initiated action, such as someone commenting on your post. That is exactly the comment-to-DM flow. What gets accounts restricted is cold or mass messaging people who never interacted with you, which we do not do. We send through Instagram's official API and stay inside Meta's published rate limits.
Yes. Meta's own documentation supports "private replies": when someone comments on your post, reel, or ad, you may send them one private message in response. Comment Auto Reply is built entirely on this official mechanism, so you are working with Instagram's rules rather than around them.
Yes. Instagram's API only works with a professional account, which means either a Business or a Creator account. Both are free, and switching from a personal account takes about two minutes in your Instagram settings. Personal accounts cannot use comment-to-DM automation from any tool.
For comment-to-DM you can send one private reply per comment, within seven days of that comment. Instagram's API allows up to 750 private-reply calls per hour per account, and the safe practical ceiling most tools work within is around 200 automated DMs per hour. Your plan's monthly limit sits on top of those API rules.
